Where is Tellico Village
Tellico Village is a master-planned community about 30 miles southwest of Knoxville, about 80 miles north of Chattanooga, and about 65 miles west of Gatlinburg. Tellico Village is on the western shores of the Tellico Reservoir. The land area is about 7.4 sq miles
History of Tellico Village
In 1979, after a long battle, Tellico Village came to exist because the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) decided to dam up the Little Tennessee River at its confluence with the Tennessee River. As part of the dam project, the TVA acquired additional land above the high water line of the reservoir (Tellico Lake). Part of this additional land was later sold to Cooper Communities, Inc., which established Tellico Village in 1986.

Tennessee is the Volunteer state and that goes the same for Tellico Village. Villagers enjoy the Kiwanis Club of Tellico Village, Lions Club of Tellico Village, Rotary Club, GFWC Women’s Club of Tellico Village or simply volunteering at the Public Library of Tellico Village.

Tellico Community Players – Theatre History
The Tellico Village Players was formed in 1990 and the first production was staged at the Tellico Village Yacht Club in the fall of 1990.
In 1991 talented and theater-interested villagers officially formed the Tellico Village Players, which later became known as the Tellico Community Players (TCP). They elected officers, wrote a charter, and received their non-profit status.
An off shoot of TCP called Readers Theater was developed in 2010 by Debbie Mayberry. This was established to give those people who find memorization too difficult the thrill of acting but in a different way. They can read their parts and use props and costumes to entertain their audiences with delightful stories.
In 2011 Debbie Mayberry once again organized another extension of the TCP Readers Theater, calling themselves The Prime Time Players. Their initial project was to take readers' theater programs into the area schools. This project, known as the School Tour Program, has grown and now annually reaches over 4200 elementary school children in our neighboring communities. Subsequently, they began developing an after-school program that involves working with students on their own readers' theater productions.
In 2013 the Board pursued the possibility of having their own theater. In July 2014, and due to the generosity of the community, $100,000.00 was raised to deconstruct the former Tellico Village Library and construct the new theater. Tellico Community Players became debt-free in February of 2015, once again due to the support of the community.
Since the opening of the 136-seat theater, the productions have filled the theater to capacity. With the talented and hard-working, all volunteer casts and crews, and the technical enhancements with sound and lighting, Tellico Community Players has accomplished a new level of professionalism. Tellico Village Kayak Ramp – coming this Fall 2021
The new kayak ramp will be located next to the current boat ramp at Clear Creek, located in the Toqua neighborhood. The kayak ramp will have a railing system to guide and slide the kayaks into the water over a gentle incline. Once the kayak enters the water, it can be guided along the ramp and loaded into a docking station, allowing kayakers to safely board without dipping in the water or risking injury.
The area is being cleared of trees and brush this summer by the Kahite Chain Gang. After the area is cleared, the railing system will be erected.
Tennessee Valley Authority has endorsed the project and the Tellico Reservoir Development Agency has pledged $2,500.
Clear Creek Boat Ramp currently is a two-lane boat ramp that serves Tellico Lake. Located off Tellico Parkway (Hwy 444), this ramp is owned by the Tellico Reservoir Development Agency (TRDA) and is open 24/7 & has no fee. The boat ramp will not be affected.
